Students often report greater cognitive load when learning neuroanatomy, due to its complex anatomical relationships. To support self-paced student learning we created an in-house computer-assisted instruction application for medical students, called ‘Digital NeuroAnatomy’. Using photomicrographs, and cadaveric photos and videos we customised the learning by providing high quality labelled digital resources that students could access anytime for as long as they needed for their learning. Quiz questions were designed from real patient cases to allow students to apply their neuroanatomy knowledge and see the relevance of their learning to clinical problem solving.
