Anatomical definition of ‘deep fascia’ varies widely and has created much debate among clinicians and anatomists. At the macroscopic level, ‘dissectible’ or ‘visible’ has been used to define the deep fascia but a clearly “visible” and dense fascia-like structure may split or thin out progressively. The ambiguous definition around the true nature of the deep fascia remains the same as it was in the 1st edition of Gray’s Anatomy. This presentation will provide the direct evidence at the mesoscopic level to demonstrate the nature and origins of the human deep fascia in the limb, face and torso.
